Athens/Greece
Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. With over 3 million people, it has all the characteristics of a modern European capital, but also plays an important role as a crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa. Its unique archeological monuments that span the millennia from the Prehistoric era to today make it one of the most interesting cities in the world, with a vibrant culture and nightlife.
Recently, Athens has been in the world spotlight due to its successful hosting of the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and its hosting of the EU summit in 2003. Its infrastructure has been dramatically enhanced, with the development of an extensive subway, railway and tram system, new bus and trolley routes, and new motorways.
Today, it is a confident, optimistic city that successfully combines yesterday's history with tomorrow's aspirations to create a unique environment for any student or visitor alike.
