Diomidis Spinellis, professor in AUEB's Department of Management Science and Technology, has been selected to serve as IEEE Software Editor-in-Chief for the period 2015-2016.

IEEE Software offers pioneering ideas, expert analyses, and thoughtful insights for software professionals who need to keep up with rapid technology change. It's the authority on translating software theory into practice. IEEE Software is the most subscribed IEEE Computer Society’s magazine. IEEE Software not only has an impressive impact rating, but it benefits from having editorial and advisory boards comprised of staff from leading software companies, such as, Ericsson, Google, IBM , Microsoft, Oracle, and Siemens.

The magazine's Editor-in-Chief is selected after an open call for a period of two years, which can be extended one more time, from a committee composed of expert members not involved with the magazine's operations, a member of the magazine's board, and the current Editor-in-Chief. According to the IEEE Computer Society's rules, the selection criteria include the candidates' achievements and reputation, editorship experience, vision of the publication, leadership skills, personality, institutional support, and networking with the community.
