ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) is one of the world's largest educational and scientific computing societies, delivering resources that advance computing as a science and a profession.

ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. It numbers more than 92.000 members worldwide, as of 2009.

ACM is organized into over 170 local chapters and 35 Special Interest Groups (SIGs), through which it conducts most of its activities. Additionally, there are over 500 college and

university chapters (Student Chapters). Chapters are the "local neighborhoods" of ACM. The Professional and Student chapters worldwide serve as nodes of activity for ACM members and the computing community at large, offering

seminars, lectures, and the opportunity to meet peers and experts in many fields of interest. Student chapters are founded and organized exclusively by students.

Following the paradigm of other universities worldwide, students of the Athens University of Economics and Business, with the collaboration of faculty members, are about to create the local chapter of AUEB. In the first phase, undergraduate,

postgraduate and PhD students having interests in the computing field are required to state their interest of joining the chapter as executive or simple members. Regarding executives, Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer positions are still open. The

candidates for the executive positions should be or become ACM student members (the cost is about 20$/per year).
