Το τμήμα Στατιστικής του ΟΠΑ και ο Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Νικολαος Δεμίρης διοργανώνουν ημερίδα για τα Μαθηματικά της Πανδημίας.

Ότι θέλετε να μάθετε για τις τεχνικές, μοντέλα και τεχνολογία αιχμής στον τρόπο μελέτης και αναχαίτισης του Covid-19.
 

• Γιατί το καλύτερο όπλο μας έναντι στην Πανδημία είναι η Επιστήμη, τα Μαθηματικά και η Στατιστική;
• Πόσο αποτελεσματικά είναι τα μέτρα;
• Πώς εκτιμάμε το "μαγικό" Rt;

Το Ερευνητικό Σεμινάριο της Σχολής Επιστημών και Τεχνολογίας της Πληροφορίας περιλαμβάνει ομιλίες διακεκριμένων ομιλητών. Η τρίτη ομιλία θα διεξαχθεί τη Δευτέρα 7 Δεκεμβρίου 2020, και ώρα 14:00, μέσω του MS Teams (σύνδεσμος: http://tiny.cc/sist3rdRS ) από τον Κίμωνα Δρακόπουλο, Assistant Professor of Data Sciences and Operations, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.

Summary
In collaboration with the Greek government, we designed and deployed a nation-wide COVID-19 screening protocol for travelers to Greece. The goals of the protocol were to combine limited demographic information about arriving travelers with screening results from recently tested travelers to judiciously allocate Greece's limited testing budget to identify asymptomatic, infected travelers and quickly identify hotspots and spikes in other nations to inform immigration/border policies in real-time.

This talk details the operations of our designed system (including border screening, database management, closed-loop feedback, and liasing with contact-tracing teams) a novel, batched, contextual bandit algorithm tailored to the unique features of this problem and an empirical assessment of the benefits of the deployed system from the summer/fall 2020, showing that targeted testing based on traveler's features essentially doubles the effectiveness compared to random testing and static greylisting. That is, in a country with daily budget of 7500 tests, targeting is as effective as Radom sampling with 14,850 tests, a number that at the time was effectively the testing capacity of the whole country.

CV
Kimon Drakopoulos is an Assistant Professor of Data Sciences and Operations at USC Marshall School of Business, where he researches complex networked systems, information design and information economics. He completed his Ph.D. in the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems at MIT, focusing on the analysis and control of contagion within networks. His current research revolves around controlling contagion, epidemic or informational as well as the use of information as a lever to improve operational outcomes in the context of testing allocation, fake news propagation and belief polarization.

Τα Τμήματα Στατιστικής, Οργάνωσης & Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων, Λογιστικής & Χρηματοοικονομικής του Οικονομικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών σε συνεργασία με τα Τμήματα Στατιστικής & Αναλογιστικών - Χρηματοοικονομικών Μαθηματικών και Μηχανικών Οικονομίας & Διοίκησης του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου συνδιοργανώνουν το 17ο e-Θερινό Σχολείο στη Διαχείριση Κινδύνου και τα Στοχαστικά Χρηματοοικονομικά, 30 Ιουνίου-3 Ιουλίου 2020.

To κεντρικό θέμα του φετινού σχολείου θα αφορά μια αναθεώρηση της θεωρίας του arbitrage, από τον Καθηγητή κ. Ιωάννη Καρατζά (Columbia University).

Η θεματολογία του σχολείου θα πλαισιωθεί από ομιλίες  σε θέματα στοχαστικής θεωρίας ελέγχου και θεωρίας χαρτοφυλακίου, διαχείρισης κινδύνου και   θεωρία λήψης αποφάσεων.

Το σχολείο απευθύνεται σε μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές, υποψήφιους διδάκτορες, μεταδιδάκτορες, ερευνητές και στελέχη του χρηματοπιστωτικού τομέα και των χρηματοοικονομικών αγορών, οι οποίοι ενδιαφέρονται να ενημερωθούν σχετικά με τις νεότερες εξελίξεις σε αυτό τον πολύ δυναμικό και γρήγορα εξελισσόμενο χώρο της στοχαστικής χρηματοοικονομικής.

Η παρακολούθηση του θερινού σχολείου δεν απαιτεί την καταβολή διδάκτρων.
Όμως, οι ενδιαφερόμενοι θα πρέπει να αποστείλουν στη Γραμματεία Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών του Τμήματος Στατιστικής (masterst@aueb.gr), e-mail εκδήλωσης ενδιαφέροντος όπου θα αναγράφουν το ονοματεπώνυμο τους, την ιδιότητα τους, το φορέα τους και ένα πολύ σύντομο βιογραφικό (έως 10 γραμμές).

Ο μέγιστος αριθμός συμμετεχόντων είναι 30 και θα τηρηθεί σειρά προτεραιότητας.

Η απόφασή μας βασίζεται στις τρέχουσες εξελίξεις και στις οδηγίες των αρμόδιων Υπουργείων που αφορούν στη λήψη ειδικών προληπτικών μέτρων, για τον περιορισμό της εξάπλωσης της επιδημίας κορωνοϊού. Σύμφωνα με τις οδηγίες αυτές αναστέλλονται εκπαιδευτικές δράσεις, όπως Ημερίδες, Σεμινάρια, Συνέδρια κ.λπ. που δεν εντάσσονται στο κανονικό εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα των ΑΕΙ.

Λυπούμαστε για την τυχόν ταλαιπωρία. Ωστόσο, η ασφάλεια και η υγεία των Ομιλητών, των συμμετεχόντων φοιτητών, καθώς και του προσωπικού έχει ύψιστη προτεραιότητα
