Prof. Morris Cohen, Panasonic Professor of Manufacturing and Logistics (Wharton Shool, University of Pennsylvania), will deliver an open lecture on Monday 10th November 2008, entitled: "How Should Companies Respond to the Current Economic Upheaval? - The Role of Customer Service and Product Support".

The lecture will take place on Monday November 10, 2008, at AUEB’s Building for Postgraduate Studies (47A Evelpidon), 7th floor, amphitheater 701, at 18:00.

Morris A. Cohen is the Panasonic Professor of Manufacturing and Logistics in the Operations and Information Management Department, the Wharton School, with a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science, at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is also Co-Director of Wharton’s Fishman-Davidson Center for Service and Operations Management and Chairman and founder of MCA Solutions, a software company specializing in optimized strategic and tactical planning systems for service supply chains in industries such as Aerospace & Defence, Automobile, Semiconductor Equipment, Computers, and Telecommunications. 

His research includes service supply chain logistics strategy and modelling with a focus on performance based incentives and advanced decision support tools. Professor Cohen holds a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Sciences from the University of Toronto, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research from Northwestern University. He has held visiting appointments at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China).

Prof Cohen has published in some of the leading academic journals worldwide, such as Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, and others.

Some of his professional distinctions include: Engineering Advisory Committee, National Science Foundation (1999-2001), Senior Editor, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (1996-present), Editorial Board, Journal of Operations Management (1989-present), Editorial Board, Supply Chain Management Review.
