The European Foundation of Quality Management (EFQM) provides assistance to organisations throughout Europe interested to excel in quality, but are also striving to excel in their market and in their business. Founded in 1989 by the CEOs of prominent European businesses, EFQM is now the hub of excellent, globally minded organisations of all sizes and sectors, and both private and public. Based in Brussels, EFQM brings together over 700 member organisations and valued partners situated in every geographical region across the globe.

EFQM is the creator of the prestigious EFQM Excellence Award which recognises the very top organisations each year. EFQM is also the guardian of the EFQM Excellence Model which provides organisations with a guideline to achieve and measure their success. EFQM is a not-for-profit membership foundation focused on serving its members' information, networking and development needs.

Based on the EFQM Excellence model and the EFQM Excellence Award, there are three levels of Excellence:

  • 1st level: Committed to Excellence
  • 2nd level: Recognized for Excellence
  • 3rd level: Excellence Award

AUEB's MSc in Human Resources Management is the first educational unit of Greek Public Sector that has won 1st level Award "Committed to Excellence". Three actions were overtaken by the Program in order to improve processes, services offered to the students, and services offered to the professors and the personnel of the Program.

These actions led to improvement of the services offered and, as a result, the Program was awarded the EFQM Award.
