AUEB participates in the organization of the 23rd Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, 28 June-1 July 2017

The Athens University of Economics and Business participates in the organization of the 23rd Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, in collaboration with the International Centre for Research on the Environment and the Economy (ICRE8), the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and ATHENA Research and Innovation Center, 28 June-1 July 2017.

ICRE8 (www.icre8.eu) is a not-for-profit, private Research Centre dedicated to interdisciplinary research on the Environment, Energy, Economy, and Eco-innovations. Its overarching goal is to promote the understanding and implementation of Sustainable Development, as the only non-self-destructive path of socio-economic development. All four of the organizing agencies have a strong commitment to research relating to the environment, climate change, energy, sustainability, and innovation.

The 2017 EAERE conference will take place at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre, situated within walking distance of some of the hottest spots and cultural events in one of the world’s oldest cities.

Athens is a member of the C40 Cities that are working to advance specific climate actions and foster targeted knowledge sharing. Athens is also a participant in the Resilient Cities Network; while facing a challenging economic policy environment, Athens is working to increase employment, manage climate-change risks, and execute an ambitious urban regeneration plan. In addition, ICRE8 and the Political Economy of Sustainable Development Lab, operating by the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, co-host the Greek chapter of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and are organizing the annual Mediterranean UN SDSN conference in spring 2017.
