Overall, the 5th Panhellenic Debating Tournament is an opportunity to celebrate 10 years of significant achievements. Numerous debaters and judges have been trained within this debating society. Most of them have participated both in Greek and international debate tournaments and have been excelled individually and collectively. But one of the most important accomplishments is that they have met people belonging in other cultures and different societies.

About Debate

Debate is a contest of arguments and persuasion on a contemporary controversial issue. Two sides are called, after a brief preparation, to argue a position they were given, and rebut the opposing teams' arguments, regardless of their personal opinions. Afterwards, the judges proclaim a winning team based on who presented the most convincing arguments and the most well-constructed speeches.

The most important benefits that one receives through concerning himself with debating are the amelioration of his communication skills, the ability present a well-documented position as well as a faster and more structured thinking process. Debating offers speakers a chance to learn how to support their opinion with in a structured and persuasive manner that is based on arguments and not dogma. Even more importantly, participants learn to listen and consider opinions opposing their own pre-conceived motions and to stay informed and with a critical thought on important current issues.
