Dimitris A. Tsouknidis, is Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). His field of expertise is finance with emphasis in the shipping industry. He is also a Visiting Faculty member at the Hellenic Open University. Before joining AUEB, he has served for ten years as Assistant Professor at the University of Piraeus (Greece), Lecturer at the Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus) and Lecturer at the University of Bradford (UK). He has also been a Visiting Faculty member at the University of Reading (UK) and ALBA Graduate Business School (Greece). He has completed his PhD and has conducted Post-Doc research at AUEB. He has published more than 15 papers in highly ranked refereed journals, among others, Transportation Research Part E (6), Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series A, Journal of International Money and Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, European Journal of Finance, European Management Review, Applied Economics. He has co-authored the book Freight Derivatives and Risk Management in Shipping published by Routledge Taylor and Francis Group and six book chapters in edited volumes. He serves as a reviewer for highly ranked academic journals and as Associate Editor of the journal Maritime Policy and Management. He has received a best paper award at the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) Conference and a teaching excellence award from the Athens University of Economics and Business for his teaching at the MSc in International Shipping, Finance and Management.
