Department of Statistics

Vasilis Chasiotis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He obtained his BSc in Mathematics (2012), MSc in Statistics and Modeling (2014), and PhD in Statistics (2018) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research focuses on statistical methodologies in official statistics, optimal experimental designs, big data regression, and subdata selection methods. He has published 14 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and has contributed to conference proceedings both in Greece and abroad. His academic work combines methodological development with practical applications in official statistics and the analysis of high-dimensional and complex data. He has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, having taught a range of statistical courses at AUEB and other Greek universities. He has received several awards for excellence in teaching and has been invited to present his research at national and international conferences and seminars. He continues to develop methodologies that address modern challenges in statistical science, particularly in the contexts of official statistics, big data, and experimental design.
