Doukidis Georgios

Georgios I. Doukidis is Professor of E-Business in the Department of Management Science and Technology, School of Business, at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). At AUEB he held various positions such as member of the board, chairman in the department of Management Science and Technology, director of the MSc in Management Science and Technology, vice-director of the international MBA, co-founder of the MSc in Digital Transformation, director and co-founder of the innovation and entrepreneurship center (ACEin).

He holds a BSc in Mathematics (1980) from the University of Thessaloniki, an MSc in Operational Research (1981) and PhD in Simulation/Artificial Intelligence (1985) from the London School of Economics (LSE) where he taught as teaching assistant in operational research (1981-84) and lecturer in computing (1984-1990). He has also taught in various leading European Business Schools and was visiting Professor at INSEAD (2024) at LSE (1992-93) and Brunel University (1996-2004). At AUEB he was elected associate professor in the department of informatics in 1990 and professor in 1995. His research and teaching fields are electronic commerce, digital transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence and decision support systems.

At AUEB he was the founder and Director for 25 years of ELTRUN, with 30+ researchers is one of the largest eBusiness Research Centers of all European Universities. He has collaborated successfully in various research projects with more than 100 leading Universities (such as MIT, Cambridge, LSE, INSEAD, EPFL etc) and well-known international organizations/enterprises. He was the scientific manager of more than 35 European R&D projects (in programmers such as Horizon 2020, FP7, FP6, IST, Esprit), more than 100 national R&D projects and successful supervisor of 20 PhD students in UK and Greece.

He was awarded the European Case Study Award 2009 in "Knowledge, Information and Communication Systems Management" category and the European ECR Award 2015 in "Retail Innovation with Business Analytics". He has acted as consultant or/and board member in more than 30 international or local companies.

Currently his is vice-chairman of the National Council for Research Technology and Innovation (NCRTI) and independent board member of the Athens Stock Exchange. In the past he has acted as board member of the Hellenic Higher Education Authority, the Hellenic Development Bank for Investments and chairman of the New Economy Fund.
