The Library and Information Center (LIC) functions as a decentralized and independent service in the Athens University of Economics and Business. Its operation is supervised by the Head of the Library who is a member of the Teaching and Research staff. The Head of the Library is nominated by the University Council to a three-year term and the Library Committee.
The role of the Library Committee is, primarily, to function as a communication link
The AUEB Library participates in the activities of the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL link) "Creation of a Central Framework for the delivery of an Integrated Library System as a Service (ILSas) (Integrated Library System as Service, ILSaS)".
The main goals of these activities are to share resources and to provide modern support services for the educational and research work in the twenty-six Universities in Greece that participate.
The management and control of the circulation of material (borrowing, reserving, renewals, returns, etc.) are significant functions of the AUEB Library. The smooth and efficient handling of these functions are particularly important for the services that the Library provides daily to the academic community. At the same time, however, the functions related to circulation management are time-consuming and require considerable time from the library
The selection of printed material from the library to be digitalized was based on two criteria - its scientific and historical value and the rarity of the material. Of course, the process also took into account the natural wear and tear of time on the material. Half a million pages were digitalized using international digitalization standards, and at the same time, the archived material of the university was rescued and preserved.

The AEUB Library has forged a new strategy with the project "AUEB Library Modern Digital Services" which was completed in 2015. The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen and to support its service and to implement innovative actions using new technology. The completion of the project will achieve the following:
Improve and upgrade its educational processes by enhancing equal access to rich digitalized research and education material.
