The Quality Assurance Unit of the Athens University of Economics and Business Participates in the 2nd Meeting of Greek University Quality Assurance Units during the 112th Rectors’ Conference
The Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) actively participated in the 2nd Meeting of the Quality Assurance Units (MODIP), held within the framework of the 112th Rectors’ Conference of Greek Universities, hosted by the University of the Aegean.
Representing AUEB, Ms. Ila Panagiota Ioakeim, MSc, Deputy Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, delivered a presentation entitled: “Universities as Drivers of Sustainable Development: The Contribution of Quality Assurance Units to Measuring and Showcasing Social Impact.”
The presentation highlighted the evolving role of Quality Assurance Units, emphasizing that they can extend beyond their traditional quality assurance responsibilities to become institutional hubs for documenting, assessing, and communicating the social value created by Higher Education Institutions.
Special emphasis was placed on the alignment of quality assurance data with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, and the development of institutional frameworks for social accountability and sustainability reporting in Greek universities.
Furthermore, the presentation introduced proposals for establishing a common framework of social impact indicators, promoting systematic monitoring of social responsibility metrics by Quality Assurance Units, strengthening collaboration and the exchange of best practices among universities, and exploring the development of a pilot Social Accountability Report for Greek Higher Education Institutions.
The participation of the Athens University of Economics and Business reflects the University's ongoing commitment to promoting quality, transparency, social responsibility, and sustainable development, while contributing actively to the national dialogue on the future role of higher education institutions in society.
The Quality Assurance Unit of AUEB would like to express its sincere appreciation to the University of the Aegean for its excellent hospitality and organization of the meeting, as well as to all representatives of the Quality Assurance Units for their valuable contributions to a constructive and forward-looking discussion.
