Operation
The Network Operation Center of AUEB was established in 1996. It is responsible for the effective operation, administration and expansion of the University?s data and telephone network. The Network Operation Center is organized into several groups that cooperate on the following activities:
- Every day network operation and support
- Provision of network services to the University community
- Support of users on network issues
- Extension of the data and telephony network
- Research and development of new network services
- Development and improvement of technical know-how
Services
The Network Operation Center supports the following services:
The data network of the University is one of the most complete high-speed networks of the country. It deploys modern wiring and networking techniques along with state-of-the-art equipment and provides an integrated data network based on a high-speed backbone. Central servers in the network provide Internet services such as e-mail and WWW. Other innovative applications, such as videoconference, are also supported.
The voice network of AUEB is connected to the Public Telecommunications Network and offers advanced telephony services to its users, such as automated voice mail, telephone conference, call waiting, follow-me, etc.
The Network Operation Center participates in several activities of the Greek Research Network II (GRNet II), which is the Internet service provider of the University. The Network Operation Center also participates into the Greek University Network II (GUNet-II), which is the Consortium of Universities in Greece.

The Network Operation Center supports the following projects:
- Greek University Network, GUNET, Greek Ministry of Education.
- Greek University ATM Network, Greek Ministry of Education.
