ESTABLISHMENT
The Career's Office was established with the decision of the Board of the Athens University of Economics and Business on the 27-3-1992, with the title Career's Office of Students and graduate students of the Athens University of Economics and Business.
ACTIVITIES
a) OCCUPATION
The Career's Office gathers information about the needs that specific businesses, banks and organizations have on personnel. When it processes the (gathered) information, forward them to the students or to the past graduate by notices on a relative notice board. The students/graduates who are interested and have the necessary prerequisites, submit a Curriculum Vitae to the office within the set deadline. After that the Curricula Vitae are sent to the interested business which proceed to the selection procedure and the decision for the hire lays on them. The results are announced/published to the Career's Office notice board. Up to now almost 1000 final year and graduate students have been hired in 200 of the most important Greek and foreign companies through the Career's Office. This record figure (for Greece) is a result of the very well organized work of the Career's Office which within 4 years from the day was established, it succeeded in being regarded from the companies as an extremely dependable source personnel. The recipe is simple: a pioneer electronic database which has all the registration data of students and companies and gives swiftly at any given moment a full picture of the demand and offer on the market. The system is supported with special seminars in order to help familiarize the students with the contemporary style and the methods of work that the companies use. (the database will be put in use in a very short time).
b. Career's Office Events
As part of the activities and the fulfillment of it's targets the Career's Office organizes events , that have as a main target to bring the today's graduate students and future executives of the companies in contact with the job market, in order to help both sides to get informed better. The most important event is the <<Professional Orientation Days>> that take place every year, since 1993. During these days the representatives of the business world have the chance to meet with the graduate and final year students of the Athens University of Economics and Business who are interested in working in the business and financial sector. This current academic year the <<Professional Orientation Days>> took place from 29th of March to 2nd of April in1999. At this event 75 big companies and almost bolder students and graduate students participated.
Other events that have been organized by the Career's Office are seminars that prepare the final year students for the job market (1993), seminars that prepared graduate students for interviews, presentation of 70 Companies that are active in the Greek market (1999), public lectures about the job prospects of the courses and specialties offered by the University (1993,94,95), about postgraduate studies in the Athens University of Economics and Business, in Great Britain and Canada (1998).

Establishment of post graduate programs and scholarships.
This program offers to the Career's Office the following possibilities:

it gives the ability to those interested to get some information about post graduate studies in Greece or abroad. They can, for example, search quickly for postgraduate programs according to their preferences, in a specific field or country. They can get information about the quality of studies offered, the prerequisites of the programs as to the candidates' level of knowledge, the fees that each university charges etc. This specific program uses links as well as the base of the Aristotelio university of Salonica which works on an experimental basis.

It gives information about scholarships, bequests, as well as Career's advice which are necessary to the students and to the graduate students. For these program the database of postgraduate studies of the University of Thessalia, is used as well as special guidelines for the candidates. Furthermore information on bequests are offered.

They offer substantial and up to date information to every person that is interested about the structure and the characteristics of all companies that operate in the Greek state. The information is about the companies plants and the stock exchange figures that determine the progress of the company in Greece.

Information to those interested about the companies and the persons that cooperate with the Career's Office of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Students and graduate students are also given the opportunity to sent their Curriculum Vitae through the Career's Office to the companies that they are interested to work for.

The set up of a web site by the Career's Office will give important information to the students or to the companies who are interested to recruit personnel from the Athens University of Economics and Business.
