George P. Zanias is currently Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business and Chairman of the Department of International and European Economic Studies. He has also held academic posts at the Universities of Oxford, Crete, and the Agricultural University of Athens. He has studied economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (B.Sc.), The University of Reading (M.Sc.) and Oxford University (Ph.D.), and has published widely in international refereed journals and edited collected volumes published internationally. He has served as: The General Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Chairman and Scientific Director of the Centre of Planning and Economic Research, Member of the Council of Economic Advisors of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Member of the Executive Board of the Hellenic Exchanges. He has been used as an expert by the World Bank, the European Commission and the United Nations. His research interests include the economic analysis of the Common Agricultural Policy, market integration, international development, econometrics of time series.
