Ilias Kapoutsis is a Teaching and Research Fellow at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), teaching Management and Negotiation courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

He holds a Ph.D. in Management from AUEB an MSc in Business Information Technology from University of Manchester and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from AUEB.

His research interests focus on the areas of negotiations, and particularly the factors that motivate individuals to initiate negotiations, as well as in political influence in organizations, with particular reference to the role of political will and political skill. He has published in prestigious academic journals including the Journal of Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, International Journal of Human Resource Management, and Negotiation & Conflict Management Research. Furthermore, he has presented several papers in top international conferences including the Academy of Management, the British Academy of Management, the International Association of Conflict Management, and the European Group for Organisational Studies.

In addition, Ilias Kapoutsis has also been contributing to several EU and international research projects. The most recent project he has participated involves the impact of the organizational context on human capital development and motivation (research project ARISTEIA-Excellence), and the international project pertaining to Strategic Planning Practices in the United Arab Emirates Public Sector (UAE National Research Fund).

Apart from his research and teaching experience, he has served as a senior advisor and CEO (2010-2012) in a consulting company providing his expertise on developing business plans and ensuring their successful implementation. He has also led in the design, negotiation, and supervision of major projects for government organizations and private industries and taught a number of executive training courses on management in various companies and organizations such as: Hellenic Petroleum, National Bank of Greece, Pharmaserve-Lilly, GAP Pharmaceuticals, Groupama, Lloyd?s Register, Hellenic Post.
