Georgia Siougle is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the Athens University of Economics and Business. She graduated from the Athens University of Economics and Business with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1998. She received an MSc in Banking and Finance from the same University in 2000 and a Ph.D. in Accounting in 2003. During her Ph.D. studies she has received an EU Marie Curie Fellowship from the University of Manchester.
Her teaching interests are in the areas of Financial Accounting, Tax Accounting and Financial Statement Analysis. She is currently a member of the Managing Committee for MSc Program in Accounting & Finance, Department of Accounting & Finance.
Her research interests include Mergers and Acquisitions, Initial Public Offering (IPOs) and Seasoned Equity Offerings (SEOs), Tax Planning and Tax Management, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Accounting Valuation of Losses. Her publications have appeared in the Review of Accounting Studies, International Journal of Accounting, Applied Financial Economics, Applied Economic Letters, Journal of Emerging market Finance and Managerial Finance.
Georgia began her career as an assistant certified auditor in Arthur Andersen (Greece). She is a member of the American Accounting Association, The European Accounting Association, The Marie Curie Fellowship Association, the Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association and the Hellenic Economic Chamber.
