Ioanna Stefanea holds Bachelor
of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Education from the University of California
at Berkeley and San Jose State
University. She has
been teaching academic English at Greek universities since 1988, first at
the University
of Crete and now at
Athens University of Economics and Business. She has also lectured in the
graduate program of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, and has edited course books for the Hellenic
Open University. She has taught Business English, English for Business
Managers and TOEFL prep courses at the Hellenic
American Union. She has published three textbooks in specialized English: English
for Students of Economics: General (1998, 2002), English for
Students of Economics: Macroeconomics (1999, 2002), and English
for Students of Economics: Microeconomics (1999, 2003). Since
2005 she has served as Assistant Editor of the scientific journal Environment
and Development Economics published by Cambridge University Press. Her
academic interests include English for special purposes, second language
acquisition and computer assisted language learning.
