NOTE: a) Those who do NOT submit a Final Research
Paper will go for just 80% in the Final Exam. b) There is a
deadline for each assignment for Continuous Assessment. Those who do NOT
submit the assignments for Continuous Assessment
will have to prepare a similar writing
task during the limited time of their Final Exam. |
OBJECTIVES:
The
aim of this course is for students to understand what academic writing is; to
understand the relationship between reading and writing; to be able to evaluate
and analyze readings found in university texts; to expand their vocabulary; to
write academic essays supported by assigned readings and class discussions; to
write academic essays that contain a
clear thesis, unified coherent paragraphs and relevant supporting details; to
write a research paper with proper citation; to use correct grammar; to view as
part of the writing process the need to edit and revise; to generate and
organize an essay in a limited amount of time.
